Air defense destroyed 58 enemy drones during the night attack
Ukraine repelled a massive aerial attack by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles on the night of December 22.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The enemy launched 86 strike UAVs of various types, including Shahed drones, Gerbera drones, and other unmanned aircraft. The attack lasted from 7:00 p.m. on December 21 until the morning of the following day.
Russian drones were launched from several directions — the cities of Oryol and Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation, the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk region , and Chauda in Crimea. More than 50 of the drones were Shaheds, which constitute the main strike force of the enemy’s night attacks.
The scale of the assault indicates an attempt by Russia to inflict maximum damage on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
The aerial threat was countered using all available air defense assets of the state. Fighter aircraft, surface-to-air missile systems, electronic warfare systems, and unmanned systems units were operating in the skies.
Coordinated efforts were carried out by mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces, which responded promptly to detected targets in various regions of the country.
