A producer for "Boombox" serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down a Russian "Shahed" with a machine gun
Oleksiy Sogomonov, producer of the band “Boombox” and currently serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, spoke about shooting down a Russian “Shahed” attack drone while on combat duty.
He reported this on Facebook.
According to the soldier, he was alone at his post when he spotted the enemy drone. The situation called for immediate action, so he decided to open fire with a machine gun.
Sogomonov noted that it took about 12–14 shots to hit the drone, after which the “Shahed” was shot down.
“I shot down a Shahed today. It just so happened that I was alone at my post. I fired 12 or 14 rounds from my Browning and hit it from the bow to the tail. There is official confirmation and thanks from the commander and headquarters,” he wrote.
The soldier also added that this was not the first drone he had shot down while serving in the unit, and thanked his comrades for their support.
“Thank you to my comrades for the respect; without you, this wouldn’t have happened. I serve the people of Ukraine,” Sogomonov noted.
During Russia’s large-scale attack on Ukrainian cities, which began on May 13, the occupiers launched hundreds of attack drones, including “Shaheds.”
Currently, Oleksiy Sogomonov serves in the “Verba” mobile fire group, which carries out air defense missions to protect Ukrainian airspace. He joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the start of the full-scale invasion and goes by the call sign “Boombox.”
