Russian propaganda is spreading a fake story about “harassment” of Ukrainian children in EU schools

Online, disinformation is being circulated claiming alleged mass cases of harassment of Ukrainian children in European schools, presented as Euronews articles. This is the work of Russian propaganda.

This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC).

According to the Centre, the fake story claims that over 100 such cases were allegedly recorded in three months, and that Ukrainian families “fear going to the police due to the risk of deportation.” At the same time, this information is absent from Euronews’ official sources and is not confirmed by any credible sources.

The Centre emphasises that the fake follows a typical pattern: using an emotionally sensitive topic, fabricated statistics, lack of source references, and appeal to a well-known media outlet. The aim is to create the impression that Ukraine and Ukrainians are losing support abroad.

The Centre notes that such information attacks are intended to discredit Ukrainian refugees, spread panic among families, and undermine trust in European institutions. Propagandists also try to portray the European Union as a “dangerous place” for Ukrainians, where they allegedly have no protection or rights.

In Ukraine, manipulative messages are also being spread about the activities of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and the country’s financial situation. According to the Centre for Countering Disinformation, the organisers aim to discredit the work of the regulator.
