Russia has stepped up its attempts to land on islands in the Dnieper Delta — Voloshin

Over the past two weeks, Russian troops have been attempting almost daily to land troops on islands in the Dnipro Delta in order to advance toward Ukrainian positions.

On March 26, 2026, Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, reported that all enemy attempts have been unsuccessful thanks to the resistance of Ukrainian defenders, according to Ukrinform. In particular, over the past day, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to land on Bilohrudy Island, where two combat clashes were recorded, resulting in casualties among the occupiers.

The intensification of Russian activities is linked to warmer weather, which allows the enemy to use small watercraft more frequently to expand their surveillance zone. Russian troops are attempting to establish observation posts on certain islands with small groups of personnel. Ukrainian defense forces are detecting these intentions in a timely manner and destroying enemy units while they are still approaching or deploying. The intensification of combat activity in the island zone is occurring simultaneously with the redeployment of Russian Pacific Fleet marines to the Huliaipole direction and the preparation of new assault operations in the south.

Earlier, in the Dnipro direction, the enemy made six unsuccessful attempts to seize footholds on Bilohrudyi Island and near the Antonivka road bridge, trying to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions.

The Russians are simulating “captures” of territory in front of drones to create the illusion of success, but they have no real control over the islands. Ukrainian defense forces control the island zone and are thwarting any enemy attempts to establish logistics for assault groups.
