Russia attacked Ukraine with hundreds of drones and missiles: key consequences of the strikes on September 1–4
From September 1 to 4, Russia carried out a series of massive airstrikes against Ukraine, deploying hundreds of attack drones and various types of missiles. Air defense forces destroyed and neutralized enemy targets; however, in a number of regions, hits were recorded, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure.
On the night of September 3–4, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on September 3, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with an X-31P guided air-to-ground missile and 121 attack UAVs of various types.
The enemy used drones of the “Shahed,” “Gerbera,” “Parodia,” and S8000 “Banderole” types. The launches were carried out from the areas of Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, the temporarily occupied Donetsk, and Gvardeyskoye.
As of 9:30 a.m., air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 103 enemy UAVs and S8000 “Banderol” drones.
At the same time, hits were recorded at 15 locations, and debris from downed targets was found at six locations. At the time this report was released, the Russian attack was still ongoing.
Over the course of a day of virtually nonstop attacks, 34 facilities were damaged in four districts of the Kyiv region.
Among them:
- 13 private homes;
- 14 vehicles;
- 5 corporate warehouses;
- a place of worship.
The most damage was recorded in the Fastiv district, where eight private homes and 12 cars were damaged.
In the Bucha district, two warehouse facilities and a private home were damaged. In the Boryspil district, a warehouse facility and a place of worship were damaged. In the Brovary district, two warehouse facilities, four private homes, and two cars were damaged.
On the morning of September 4, the Brovary district came under attack again. Warehouses were damaged, and a fire broke out, which firefighters extinguished.
On the morning of September 4, Russian troops attacked Odesa.
In one of the city’s districts, residential buildings and cars were damaged. As of 8:00 a.m., one person was reported dead and at least five injured, including a child.
Apartments, facades, and windows were damaged in two high-rise buildings. One man was killed, and three women were injured.
In addition, enemy drones struck private residential buildings. Two houses were destroyed. A two-story non-residential building, as well as private and service vehicles, were also damaged. Among the injured were a man and a minor.
On the morning of September 4, a Russian drone attacked a car in Pidhirne. The car was destroyed, and a 63-year-old man was injured.
In total, over the past 24 hours, the occupiers carried out 890 strikes on 49 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region.
As a result of the attacks, one person was killed and five others were injured. There were also 73 reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure.
Russian troops attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 10 times.
In the Nikopol district, the communities of Nikopol, Pokrovsk, and Marganetsk came under attack. A factory and a supermarket were damaged.
In the Pavlohrad district, the enemy attacked the Bohdanivka community. A fire broke out, and a car was damaged. Two police officers were killed, and another law enforcement officer is in the hospital in serious condition.
In the Sumy region, Russian troops wounded three civilians.
In the Hlukhiv community, a 64-year-old man was injured when an enemy drone struck.
In the Seredyna-Budsk community, a UAV struck a residential building, injuring a 42-year-old woman.
Another woman, aged 45, was injured in a drone attack in the Esman community.
Overnight, Russian drones attacked three locations in Kropyvnytskyi.
As a result of one of the strikes, the roof of a nine-story residential building caught fire, and one person was injured.
A fire also broke out on the grounds of an infrastructure facility. At another location, dry grass was burning, and a farm building was damaged.
By 7:00 a.m., all fires had been extinguished.
Around 6:50 a.m., Russian troops used a drone to attack a car on a highway near Novoraysk in the Beryslav district.
Two men, aged 47 and 59, were injured. They sustained blast injuries, concussions, and thermal burns. The victims were hospitalized; their condition is assessed as moderate.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., the occupiers shelled the Central District of Kherson. A 54-year-old man sustained blast injuries and a concussion. After receiving medical care, he was transferred to outpatient treatment.
On the night of September 3, Russia attacked Ukraine with 163 strike drones of various types.
Among them were “Shaheds”—about half of which are equipped with jet engines—as well as S8000 “Banderole,” “Gerbera,” and “Parody” decoy drones.
As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 135 targets.
“According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m., air defense forces have shot down or neutralized 135 targets,” the statement said.
Hits were recorded at 15 locations, and debris from the downed targets fell at four additional sites.
In the Cherkasy region, seven Russian UAVs were neutralized on September 2–3.
“In the Zolotonosha district, debris from an enemy target damaged a power line and solar panels belonging to a private company. An inspection of the area is ongoing,” regional authorities reported.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian troops attacked three districts more than 20 times using drones, artillery, and aerial bombs. Fires broke out in the Nikopol district, and a swimming pool building was damaged. A fire also broke out in Pavlohrad.
In the Kyiv region, a man sustained shrapnel wounds as a result of an attack in the Boryspil district and was hospitalized.
“The enemy damaged warehouses, an administrative building, a store, and small retail kiosks. All emergency services are on the scene. We are documenting and assessing the consequences of the attack,” the regional governor said.
On the night of September 2, Russian troops launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, two X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles, and 174 strike UAVs.
The main targets of the attack were the Odesa and Kyiv regions.
As of 8:30 a.m., air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 141 aerial targets, including three S8000 “Banderole” missiles and 138 enemy UAVs.

– 138 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera, and other types of drones,” the statement reads.
Hits were recorded at 16 locations, and downed aerial targets or their debris fell at four additional sites.
In Odesa, eight people, including a child, were injured as a result of the massive strike. Two of the victims required hospitalization.
A 24-story residential building sustained damage, and apartments on several floors were destroyed. Cars, office spaces, and two educational institutions were also damaged.
On the night of September 1, Russian troops carried out a massive combined attack, primarily targeting the Kyiv and Odesa regions.
Russia used “Iskander-M”/KN-23/S-400 ballistic missiles, “Zircon” and “Kalibr” anti-ship missiles, X-31P anti-radar missiles, S8000 “Banderol,” and 218 strike UAVs.
As of 8:30 a.m., air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 199 targets, including:
- 5 “Iskander-M”/KN-23/S-400 ballistic missiles;
- 2 S8000 “Banderol”;
- 5 “Kalibr” cruise missiles;
- 187 UAVs of various types.
Missile and strike drone strikes were recorded at 28 locations, and debris fell at 10.
In the capital, the death toll from the September 1 attack rose to eight.
Seven people were killed in the Darnytskyi district. Russia struck a railway depot and other railway infrastructure, causing significant damage.
Six of the victims were employees of Ukrzaliznytsia, and another employee sustained serious injuries.
In the Holosiivskyi district, one person was killed when a non-residential building was struck.
In the Solomyanskyi district, a UAV struck a residential building. Rescuers saved a man and freed a woman from under the rubble.
In the Kyiv region, a five-story residential building in Boryspil was damaged as a result of a Russian attack. Forty-eight people were evacuated from the building.
A business, a store, private homes, and a car repair shop were also damaged.
As of 8:35 a.m., the death toll in Boryspil had risen to four, with another 13 people injured.
In the Obukhiv district, one person was injured. Eleven private homes, warehouses, and a gas station were damaged.
On the night of August 31, Russia attacked border infrastructure in the Izmail district.
Due to the attack, the “Orlivka” checkpoint temporarily suspended operations.
Utility buildings and a sewing workshop were also damaged, and two private homes were partially destroyed.
Seven civilians were injured, four of whom were hospitalized.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, two people were killed and three others were wounded as a result of Russian attacks.
In Zaporizhzhia, an FPV drone struck a high-rise building, injuring two people, including a teenager.
In total, over the past 24 hours, the occupiers carried out 923 strikes on 51 settlements in the region.
In addition, in Kushuhum, the Russians attacked emergency responders who were on their way to a call. Four responders were injured.
In the Zhytomyr region, a Russian strike caused a fire at a private enterprise. Four trucks and three semi-trailers were destroyed. There were no fatalities or injuries.
In the Poltava region, enemy UAVs and debris were reported to have fallen. No one was injured. Later, Russian forces attacked Poltava, where at least three people were injured.
In the Mykolaiv region, a 54-year-old man was wounded and a warehouse and vehicles were damaged as a result of a “Shahed” drone attack.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the enemy attacked three districts more than 20 times. Businesses, residential buildings, stores, vehicles, and other facilities were damaged.
In Kherson, Russian troops attacked a healthcare facility. Two employees were injured—a 62-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman.
In the Cherkasy region, air defense forces shot down three Russian UAVs; there were no casualties.
During the attack on Kyiv’s Zhuliany Airport on September 4, two old Yak-40 aircraft were struck. This was stated by People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko, who noted that these Soviet passenger planes had not been used for flights even before the start of the full-scale war.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv: there are reports of a possible strike on the Nova Poshta terminal.
The Kyiv region received over 33 metric tons of power generation equipment from Lithuania and Finland.
