Russia is preparing for forced mobilization in the occupied territories, following the example of Donetsk Oblast
Russia may be preparing a new wave of forced mobilization in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, following a scenario previously used in the so-called “DPR” in 2022. Representatives of the partisan movement made this statement on July 28, noting that it concerns the occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Luhansk regions.
“Activists from the ‘OTPOR’ movement report that options for future mobilization are already being actively discussed at military registration and enlistment offices and in the occupation administrations in the seized territories. The main threat now looms over the occupied parts of the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Luhansk regions, as well as Crimea —it is there that the Kremlin regime is preparing, first and foremost, to apply the same harsh and inhumane methods that were already tested in the “DPR” in early 2022,” the statement reads.
An “ATESH” activist, who was living in Donetsk at the time and personally went through that hell, described exactly how it happened.
“Back then, within a matter of days, all exit routes for men were completely blocked, and roundups were conducted right on the streets, in stores, and at workplaces. They rounded up everyone indiscriminately—regardless of age, serious illnesses, or lack of military experience. People without equipment or training were thrown into battle as ‘cannon fodder,’ which led to catastrophic losses. “This entire well-established system of forced conscription is now being prepared for implementation in the newly occupied territories and in the Russian Federation,” noted “ATESH.”
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops carried out 71 strikes on 23 settlements in the Sumy region. As a result of the enemy shelling, 19 people were wounded or injured, including seven children.
In the Bilopil community in Sumy Oblast, three people—a woman and her two young children—were injured as a result of a Russian drone attack.
Over the past day, on July 27, the Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated another 1,560 Russian soldiers. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released updated data on Russian military losses as of July 28, 2026.
