Russia may attempt to launch an attack from the Chernihiv region — the State Border Guard Service has assessed the threat
Russian troops could potentially use the Chernihiv sector to attempt a new invasion or carry out provocative actions; however, there are currently no signs of preparations for increased activity along the border. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that the situation remains under control.

At the same time, border guards have not detected any preparations for a breach of the state border or activity by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
“Regarding the Chernihiv sector, the General Staff also noted that there is intelligence indicating the enemy plans to use this section of the Ukrainian border—specifically within Chernihiv Oblast—to attempt an invasion.
Or, even without sufficient forces, to carry out demonstrative actions so that Ukraine would subsequently redeploy additional forces to this sector, rather than using them in more critical areas,” he said.
According to the State Border Guard Service spokesperson, there are currently no reports of the enemy deploying infantry units attempting to cross the Ukrainian border.
“There are also no reports of sabotage and reconnaissance groups being active at this time. We cannot let our guard down, because the enemy is treacherous,” Demchenko added.
The Chernihiv Regional Defense Council has approved a decision on mandatory evacuation from 12 settlements in the region starting July 1.
