Russia is close to creating its own version of Starlink - Magyar

Russia may soon acquire its own satellite communication system, similar to Starlink, which will operate along the front lines.

Ukrainian military officer and drone expert Robert “Madyar” Brovdi stated this in an interview with UP, emphasizing that Russia is actively advancing related developments.

“They’ve restricted Starlink; they have their own satellite system, and they already have prototypes of devices similar to Starlink that boost the signal. Yes, they’re clunky, they’re easy to spot, they’re large, and so on. But it’s a matter of time. Within a year, they will evolve and have their own alternative network along the entire front line,” Brovdi stated.

According to the commander, Russia isn’t standing still. Right now, it has:

  • its own satellite system;

  • prototypes of signal-boosting devices—similar in principle to Starlink.

The devices are still bulky and easy to detect. However, “Madyar” believes that the situation could change within a year.

If Russia establishes its own stable network coverage along the front line, this will significantly enhance its combat capabilities.

Previously, U.S. drones were stranded at sea due to a Starlink failure.

Ukrainian Starlink terminals end up in enemy hands due to complex routes.

Russia’s “shadow fleet” uses Starlink terminals to circumvent sanctions.
