The threat of new Russian missile strikes remains, says Ignat
Russia may continue its massive missile attacks on Ukrainian territory in the near future, as the threat of new strikes remains high.
This was stated by Yuriy Ignat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force, on the “Novyny.LIVE” program.
According to him, during the latest attack, Russian forces did not use the sea-launched “Kalibr” and “Iskander-K” cruise missiles, instead relying on other weapons.
The enemy concentrated its main strike potential on strategic aviation and Iskander-M ballistic missiles.
Ignat emphasized that the threat of repeated launches persists from various directions, particularly from the Caspian region and from Russian air forces.
“The likelihood of further strikes remains. Of course, there is no precise information right now on whether they plan to attack again, but we must prepare for any scenario, because the enemy does not stop such attacks. And now drones are attacking from various directions,” noted the Air Force representative.
He emphasized that Ukraine must be prepared for new combined attacks involving missiles and drones.
As a reminder, on the night of May 14, Russia carried out a massive combined attack on Ukraine, using strike drones, cruise, ballistic, and aeroballistic missiles.
Over the course of the night, 56 missiles and 675 drones were launched, with Kyiv as the primary target.
In the capital, a residential building was severely damaged as a result of the strike—the entrance to a nine-story building was completely destroyed, and a rescue operation is underway.
As of now, at least three people are known to have died and more than 40 have been injured; there are also reports of people missing. People may still be trapped under the rubble.
Damage has been reported not only in Kyiv but also in the Kyiv region and a number of other regions of Ukraine.
In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, the death toll has risen to four as a result of the Russian attack.
As of 11:35 a.m., more than 10 people are considered missing following the nighttime shelling of Kyiv. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, Interior Minister Klymenko reported.
In Kyiv, a Russian strike near the “Kharkivska” metro station destroyed a passport issuance center.
In Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, search and rescue operations are ongoing on May 14 at the site of a Russian strike on an apartment building. According to the State Emergency Service, as of 10:00 a.m., two deaths have been confirmed, and 28 people have been rescued. Rescue workers, K-9 units, and psychologists are on the scene.
As a reminder, on the night of May 14 in Kyiv, the air raid alert lasted nearly eight hours. In the Kyiv region, seven people were injured in the Russian attack, including a three-year-old child. In Kyiv, more than 30 people have been wounded following the massive shelling.
