Russia tries to copy Ukrainian naval drones – Ukrainian Navy spokesperson

Russia is attempting to replicate Ukrainian naval drones, but their actual capabilities have yet to be proven.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, during a television broadcast.

Pletenchuk emphasised that “being copied only means you are ahead,” commenting on Russia’s efforts to imitate Ukrainian maritime drone technology.

The Navy spokesperson also noted that building a drone is just the beginning, and it requires a period of testing under combat conditions to evaluate durability and operational effectiveness, including navigation and combat systems.

Pletenchuk clarified that the Ukrainian Navy “targets warships, not civilian vessels,” whereas Russia, on the other hand, has damaged over 130 civilian ships. He added that while Russia openly declares its development in this area, the Ukrainian Navy continues to take these threats into account in its daily operations and further enhances its own capabilities.

These Sea Baby naval drones struck the tankers, which were part of Russia’s shadow fleet and used to circumvent international sanctions on oil transport.
