Russia shelled the Sumy region more than 40 times in the past 24 hours

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have carried out more than 40 strikes on 19 settlements in 10 communities in the Sumy region.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported this on Facebook.

The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, and guided aerial bombs.

As a result of the attacks, civilian infrastructure facilities in various communities of the region were damaged and destroyed. Specifically:

  • in the Esman community, private residential buildings and farm structures were destroyed;
  • in the Hlukhiv community, an apartment building was damaged;
  • in the Seredyna-Buda community, a residential building, infrastructure facilities, and a car were damaged;
  • in the Shalyhyn community, a private house was destroyed;
  • in the Zno-Novgorod community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • in the Shostka community — an administrative building was damaged;
  • in the Sumy community — residential buildings, a medical facility, administrative premises, infrastructure, and transportation were damaged;
  • in the Bilopil and Velykopysariv communities — civilian infrastructure facilities and residential buildings were damaged.

Over the past 24 hours, 61 people were evacuated from border communities. Work to address the aftermath of the attacks is ongoing.

In Odesa, the death toll from the Russian Federation’s nighttime attack has risen.

Over the past 24 hours, from 7:00 a.m. on April 15 to 7:00 a.m. on April 16, Ukraine’s air defense forces neutralized 667 aerial targets used by Russia to attack the country’s territory.

In Dnipro, the death toll from the Russian military’s nighttime attack has risen. As of now, two people are known to have died and 27 were wounded.

At least four people were killed. Another 21 people were injured.

Earlier, Russian troops attacked the Bila Tserkva district in the Kyiv region, resulting in a fire at one of the enterprises.
