Russia advances slowly, suffers heavy losses, and achieves minimal results — Syrskyi

The Russian army is demonstrating extremely slow progress on the front while sustaining significant losses.

This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, during a meeting with Ukrainian media.

According to Syrskyi, the active front line currently stretches 1,218 kilometers, compared to 1,253 km a month ago. The reduction of 35 km is attributed to successful Ukrainian military operations.

Regarding Russia’s pace of advance, data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) shows that in some sectors, the enemy is moving only 1.5–4.5 km per month. For example, on the Pokrovsk direction, progress is about 1.5 km per month.

By comparison, according to combat regulations, breaking through a prepared defense should proceed at a rate of 1–1.5 km per hour, and an unprepared defense at 1.5–2.5 km per hour. Syrskyi emphasized that, given daily losses exceeding 1,000 personnel, Russia’s results remain negligible.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief reported that in November, Ukrainian drones inflicted record losses on the occupiers — 24,000 enemy personnel.

This information confirms that active defense and targeted strikes by Ukrainian forces are significantly slowing the aggressor.

The 1,386th day of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine continues, and the Armed Forces maintain positions while inflicting substantial losses on the enemy.
