On the morning of 20 February, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Kharkiv. The city’s Slobidskyi district came under fire.

This was reported with reference to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office on Telegram.

According to preliminary data, an Iskander-M ballistic missile was used in the attack. As a result of the strike, multi-storey residential buildings were damaged. A gas leak was also reported.

Emergency services are working at the scene. Information regarding casualties and the extent of the destruction is being clarified.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the strike was carried out near residential high-rise buildings, damaging seven apartment blocks and an administrative building.

Two cars caught fire due to the shelling, and windows were blown out in flats.

A gas leak was also recorded at the scene, but emergency crews promptly localised the problem.
