Russia uses missiles manufactured in 2026 against Ukraine

Russia has begun using missiles manufactured in 2026 to strike Ukraine. The Office of the President has released images of the wreckage of a new Kh-101 cruise missile.

This was reported by Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the President of Ukraine’s Commissioner for Sanctions Policy.

According to him, during this week — including the latest overnight attack — Russian forces employed various types of modern weapons, among them “Zircon” missiles, large anti-ship cruise missiles.

Vlasiuk noted that the Kh-101 is a standard cruise missile; however, fragments recovered after the strike indicate that it was manufactured in 2026.

He also drew attention to the use of the Kh-32 missile — a modernised version of the Kh-22 — which the Russians used for the first time during an attack on Kyiv. The RM-48U was also mentioned — a ballistic missile created on the basis of training target missiles for the S-400 air defence system.

“Every use of a particular type of missile is not a coincidence but the result of specific circumstances. Partly, it is not from a good life — and that is a good sign. The photo shows a Kh-101 from 2026. As early as tomorrow, we will know its key components,” Vlasiuk emphasised.

Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, stated that Ukraine must organise countermeasures against Shahed-type kamikaze drones so that they are destroyed while still crossing the state border.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the launch of drone assault units within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based on a new doctrine for the use of unmanned systems.
