Units of the 3rd Corps cleared 30 km of routes of mines prior to the offensive as part of Operation Vivaldi

Ground robotic systems of the Third Army Corps cleared 30 km of routes during the “Vivaldi” offensive operation in the Shandryholove sector. The robots prepared the way for the advance of Ukrainian troops.

 

The ground robotic systems completed demining of a complex section in two nights. The corps noted that it would have taken approximately one week for two companies of sappers to complete the same amount of work.

The use of ground-based drones helped prevent casualties among Ukrainian troops.

The drones were also used to support assault operations. Their mission was to replace soldiers in the most dangerous sections of the front line.

According to the Third Army Corps, robotic systems are currently neutralizing about 60% of the anti-personnel mines in its area of responsibility.

The commander of the Third Army Corps, Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky, noted that during assault operations, drones must operate at the forefront.

“During assault operations, UAVs and RMCs always lead the way ahead of the infantry,” Biletsky said.

RCMs are used to remotely lay mines along the routes of advancing Russian troops. A single crew can mine up to 200 meters of terrain per day.

They are also involved in logistics on the front lines—evacuating the wounded and delivering provisions, construction materials, and other equipment.

As a reminder, during Operation Vivaldi, the robots created 400 meters of minefields.

In addition, during Operation Vivaldi, ground robots were deployed behind enemy lines for the first time.

Ukrainian defense forces liberated Shandryholove and Derylove in the Donetsk region and established full control over Drobyshev. This was reported by Andriy Biletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps. According to him, this took place as part of the “Vivaldi” offensive operation.

As part of Operation “Vivaldi,” Ukrainian forces are continuing their offensive operations in the north of the Donetsk region. Over the course of the week, the Defense Forces made further advances, specifically conducting mop-up operations and liberating several settlements.
