Russia strikes infrastructure in Zhytomyr region

In the night of 13 January, Russian forces carried out missile strikes on critical infrastructure in the Zviahel and Korosten districts of Zhytomyr region.

Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, reported that the attacks targeted energy and industrial facilities in the region. Currently, there is no information about casualties.

Emergency services are actively working on-site to contain fires caused by the strikes and to clear the areas of unexploded ordnance.
“Rescuers are doing everything possible to minimize the consequences of yet another act of terror against the peaceful population of Zhytomyr region,” emphasized Bunechko.

Some infrastructure was damaged, but critical facilities for public services were preserved, and local authorities are restoring electricity supply and assessing material losses. Residents are urged to heed air raid alerts and move to shelters immediately.

Russian drones previously hit an ambulance in Chernihiv region, wounding two medical workers, and also struck infrastructure in the northern part of Rivne region.
