Russia attacked a civilian vessel near Odesa
Russian forces attacked a civilian vessel flying the Palau flag twice as it was leaving a port in the Odesa region. The ship was carrying corn; as a result of the attacks, two crew members are missing, while seven other sailors and a Ukrainian pilot were rescued.
This was reported by Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine’s Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport, on Telegram.
“Russia continues its targeted attacks on civilian shipping and Ukraine’s port infrastructure. Today, while leaving a port in the Odesa region, a civilian vessel flying the Palau flag and carrying nearly 2,800 metric tons of corn was attacked twice,” the statement reads.
The hits caused a fire on the vessel. According to preliminary information, seven crew members and a Ukrainian pilot were rescued. Two sailors are currently missing. A search and rescue operation is underway.
“This is yet another deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure and international shipping. Russia is once again demonstrating its complete disregard for international law, posing a threat to the safety of shipping, global trade, and food security,” Kalashnik emphasized.
Since the start of the day, Russian troops have attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces positions 79 times.

On the morning of July 25, Russian troops struck Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs. A woman was killed in the attack, and several other people were injured. Rescue and emergency services are working at the scene, and details regarding the consequences of the shelling are being clarified.
