Ukraine warns at OSCE: Russia preparing new attacks on energy infrastructure

Ukraine has confirmed that Russia is preparing additional strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure and other critical facilities. This was stated by Rostyslav Palahusynets, Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna, during the OSCE Forum on Security Cooperation, according to Ukrinform.

Potential targets reportedly include systems and networks supporting Ukraine’s nuclear power plants. Palahusynets stressed that these preparations indicate Russia’s intent to increase pressure during the harshest period of winter.

He noted that attacks on energy infrastructure not only damage facilities but also threaten civilians’ survival, depriving them of heat, electricity, and water. Such actions, he said, undermine international efforts, including those by the United States, to seek a resolution to the war.

Palahusynets emphasized that Ukraine remains maximally constructive in diplomatic processes, while Russia relies on terror against civilians.

Statistics cited by Ukraine: 256 air attacks on energy and critical infrastructure this heating season. Since January 11, strikes on energy facilities have occurred almost daily.

In Rivne region, a morning attack left over 10,000 households without electricity.

In Dnipro, a nighttime attack damaged a boiler facility.
