Russia orders tricolours to be hung in rear villages ahead of invasion anniversary
Russia has decided to mark the anniversary of its full-scale invasion not with real battlefield gains, but by raising flags in rear settlements. In the occupied territories, authorities have ordered Russian tricolours to be installed even in areas where no fighting has taken place for a long time.
This was stated on the national telethon by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Defence Forces.
According to Voloshyn, the move is aimed at propaganda and creating the impression of a “successful offensive.” “They are trying to create a picture for their propaganda media, as if their troops are advancing and capturing new settlements. In reality, they are simply hanging rags in their own rear areas and presenting it as fresh frontline achievements,” he explained.
Intelligence has confirmed that the order was received by units operating on the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka axes, including reconnaissance elements of Russia’s 29th Army. Flags are to be photographed and filmed even in the event of failed assaults, in order to report back to the Kremlin leadership and create the illusion of active advances on the front.
It was also reported that Russia has classified key economic data to mask the scale of the crisis.
In addition, the State Duma has approved the issuance of automatic weapons to private security companies.
Meanwhile, Russia’s “gold capital,” Bodaybo, has been left without heating following another utilities accident.
