On the morning of July 19, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Sumy, using seven guided bombs. The city’s civilian infrastructure was hit.
According to Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the attack targeted the Kovpakivsky district. Residential buildings and facilities in the industrial zone sustained damage.
One man was killed in the attack—rescue workers recovered his body from the rubble of his own home. Three other people were injured and hospitalized.
Emergency services are working at the site of the strike, and efforts to address the aftermath of the Russian attack are ongoing.
On the night of July 18–19, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv. One person was killed in the attack, and eight others were injured. Damage and fires were reported in five districts of the capital.
Throughout the day on July 17, Russian forces launched strikes on Kharkiv and 29 other settlements in the Kharkiv region. Two people were killed and 18 others were injured in the shelling; among the victims were five children.
Throughout the day on July 17, the Chernihiv region came under attack from enemy drones. Fires broke out in several districts at once but have already been extinguished by Ukrainian rescue workers.
