Russia launches overnight drone attack on Ukraine using various types, including jet-powered Shaheds and Italmаs
During the night into 27 January, Russian forces carried out another aerial attack on Ukraine, employing several types of attack drones, including jet-powered Shaheds and Italmаs UAVs. Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed the majority of enemy targets moving through the country’s airspace.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is noted that on the night of 27 January, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 165 attack drones, including Shahed-type UAVs (some of them jet-powered), as well as Gerbera, Italmаs and other types of drones.
The drones were launched from the following directions: Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation, as well as from Hvardiiske and Chauda in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
“According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defence forces shot down or suppressed 135 enemy UAVs in the north, south, centre and east of the country,” the Air Force said.
At the same time, strikes by 24 attack UAVs were recorded at 14 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at nine locations.
“The attack is ongoing, with several enemy UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace. Please follow safety rules,” the Armed Forces added.

Earlier, Russia attacked infrastructure facilities in Lviv Region.
On the evening of 26 January 2026, the Russian army attacked Kharkiv and settlements in the region with ballistic missiles, causing widespread power outages and the destruction of civilian facilities.
In Kharkiv, the number of people injured as a result of the massive overnight drone attack on 24 January rose to 27.
During the daytime on 19 January, Russian forces struck Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs.
