Russia deployed the Molniya drone without a control antenna for the first time

Russian troops attacked a Ukrainian facility using a “Molniya” drone that lacked a control antenna. This may indicate the use of autonomous technologies in new Russian UAVs. This was reported by Serhiy Beskrestnov (“Flash”), an advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense and an expert in radio technology.

According to him, the drone was equipped only with a camera and an onboard computer, which may indicate the ability to navigate, search for targets, and attack autonomously without constant operator control.

Beskrestnov noted that previously, such capabilities had only been observed on V2U-type drones, and the appearance of such technologies on the “Molniya” indicates the development of autonomous strike systems in Russia.

He also urged Ukrainian military personnel and civilians to report any Russian drones or their components they find for further analysis.
