Russians are remotely mining areas using Shahed drones — Poltava Region State Emergency Service
Russian troops are using "Shahed"-type attack drones not only to strike targets but also to remotely lay mines in certain areas, posing an additional danger to rescue workers and civilians.
This was reported by Andriy Khizhnyak, head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Poltava region.
According to the Major General of the Civil Protection Service, such incidents have been recorded repeatedly in the Poltava region, even though the region was not under occupation.
Khyzhnyak said that while clearing up the aftermath of attacks, rescuers observed drones dropping mines before striking a target, remotely mining the area around the target.
Such actions significantly complicate the work of emergency services and increase risks for personnel arriving at the scene after a strike.
At the same time, he explained that pyrotechnicians are increasingly using robotic systems to handle explosive devices. These systems allow them to deliver explosive charges to the munitions and neutralize them from a safe distance.
Earlier, Sergey Bezkrestnov (“Flash”), an electronic warfare specialist and advisor to the Minister of Defense, also reported on the use of “Shaheds” for remote mining. According to him, some Russian drones can carry up to eight mines in special containers.
Experts urge citizens not to approach suspicious objects and to immediately report them to rescue workers or law enforcement.
