Russians are trying to advance in Vovchansk – military
In Vovchansk, Kharkiv region, and the surrounding settlements, there are ongoing attempts by Russian troops to advance. Fighting is taking place directly in the city itself, Ukrainian military report.
This was stated on a live broadcast by the Head of the Communications Department of the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Trehubov, according to UA.News.
“In Vovchansk, there are constant attempts by the Russians to advance, and this is not only about the city itself, although fighting is happening there now,” Trehubov said.
According to him, Russian units are also actively trying to operate on the flanks and in nearby settlements. “The Russians are actively crossing the river to the south, but more than that, it is about attempts to bypass Vilcha, Vovchansk Khutory, and surrounding settlements,” he clarified.
Trehubov emphasized that the situation is complicated by weather conditions.
“The rivers have already frozen over, so they have stopped being the natural barrier they were before, and now for small infantry groups, they are effectively no longer a problem,” he added.
Recall that the Russians aim to bypass Vovchansk and reach Lyman in January.
On the night of January 1, Russia launched more than 200 attack drones over Ukraine. Their target was Ukrainian energy infrastructure. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram.
As a result of the night attack in the Odesa region, damage was recorded to piers and equipment at the Izmail port, and in Odesa – port equipment, vehicles, and some infrastructure objects were hit.
