Russian attack on critical infrastructure in Zhytomyr region: two injured
During the night of 11 January, Russian forces carried out another strike on critical infrastructure facilities in Zhytomyr Region, resulting in injuries and fires.
This was reported by the Head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Bunechko.
The attack specifically targeted facilities vital to the region’s functioning, once again confirming the deliberate terror against Ukraine’s rear areas.
Emergency services are working at the impact sites, eliminating the consequences of the strike and assisting the injured.
According to Vitalii Bunechko, the head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, the strike on the infrastructure injured at least two employees who were at the facility at the time of the attack.
The injured were promptly taken to medical facilities, where they are receiving the necessary care. Doctors are assessing their condition and clarifying the nature of the injuries caused by the blast wave and shrapnel.
As a result of the enemy strike, fires broke out, significantly complicating the work of rescuers in the first hours after the attack.
Firefighters from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) operated under heightened danger due to the risk of secondary explosions and the spread of flames to other infrastructure elements.
After the fires were localised, specialists began surveying the area for explosive hazards.
It should be recalled that Russia attacked two districts of Dnipropetrovsk Region.
