Russian bloggers prematurely declared their soldiers dead in Kupiansk
Reports by Russian propagandists claiming the complete destruction of the remnants of their own forces in Kupiansk are untrue.
Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, told ArmyInform that scattered groups of invaders remain in the city, attempting to resist.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, there may be anywhere from a squad to a platoon of Russian servicemen in various parts of the town.
In particular, the presence of occupiers in the basements of the local hospital has been confirmed, where they continue to hide from the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
“There are still Russian soldiers at the hospital. There are indeed a few of them still in the basement, and it has been clearly confirmed that they are still trying to put up a fight there. Those who wanted to surrender have already done so, but there are still a few diehards sitting in the basement,” Viktor Tregubov noted in a comment to ArmyInform.
The premature “eulogistic” rhetoric of Russian bloggers, according to the lieutenant colonel, is a deliberate manipulation by the aggressor’s military leadership.
By declaring their soldiers dead in advance, the Russian command absolves itself of responsibility for their rescue or evacuation from the encirclement.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Armed Forces secretly surrounded Kupiansk while Putin was celebrating its “capture.”
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also almost completely cleared Kupiansk of Russian forces.
