Russian drones have blanketed the forests of the Kharkiv region with thousands of kilometers of fiber-optic cable
Soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade showed how the forests in the Vovchansk district of Kharkiv Oblast are covered with thousands of kilometers of fiber-optic cable left behind by Russian FPV drones. The military called this a serious environmental threat.
According to them, the fiber-optic cables not only litter the forests but will also remain in the environment for years, causing harm to the ecosystem. They become entangled in trees, create deadly traps for wild animals, and cause long-term consequences for the environment.
The brigade emphasized that such actions constitute a form of ecocide, which Russia is using as yet another weapon in its war against Ukraine. That is precisely why Russian drone operators remain a top priority target for the Ukrainian military.

As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.
Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually occur at night. An expert believes this may have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.
