Russian occupiers attempt to break into Popivka in Sumy region
Russian occupation forces are trying to break into the village of Popivka in Sumy Oblast, but have been unsuccessful and cannot establish a foothold there.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Trehubov.
“In Popivka, the Russians tried and are still trying to get in, but without success, and they cannot hold their positions,” he said.
According to Trehubov, the settlement had been evacuated earlier, so no civilians are present.
“Popivka was evacuated at the beginning of the year,” added the spokesperson.
He also noted that the Russian occupiers mainly use drones over the settlement.
Earlier, Ukrainian counterattacks in the south were reported to potentially disrupt Russia’s spring–summer offensive plans.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also stated that this winter the Armed Forces of Ukraine maintained control of all key defensive positions.
