Russian occupiers are testing “drone-killers” with cables based on the “Courier” platform
On the front line in Ukraine, Russian forces have been spotted using experimental equipment designed to counter Ukrainian FPV drones.
According to The Telegraph, the occupiers have created an armoured vehicle equipped with rotating steel cables intended to knock drones away during an attack.
The invention is based on the unmanned ground vehicle “Courier”, which is usually used to transport cargo of up to 250 kilograms.
In this new modification, instead of weapons, the vehicle has a specialised installation with four discs, each fitted with around ten flexible metal wires.
The device works on a fan-like principle: an internal engine spins the discs, creating a protective barrier of rapidly rotating cables around the vehicle.
According to the developers’ design, this mechanism is meant to either knock drones out of the air or alter their flight path before they collide with the vehicle’s body.
It should be recalled that the occupiers shot civilians near Pokrovsk and fled from their positions.
Additionally, Russia could capture Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Huliaipole in the near future.
