Russian “Shahed” drones strike several regions of Ukraine overnight on 10–11 January

During the night of 11 January, Russian forces carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine in recent times.

According to the Air Force, the enemy launched 154 strike unmanned aerial vehicles from Russian territory and temporarily occupied Crimea.

Of these, around 110 were Shahed-type kamikaze drones, while the remainder were UAVs of other models, including “Gerber” and “Molniya”.

Launches were recorded from the directions of Millerovo, Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk within Russia, as well as from Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.

A large-scale air raid alert was issued on the evening of 10 January across almost the entire country, while dozens of enemy drones were observed moving simultaneously in the skies over several regions. The Air Force warned that the attack was continuing even after the first reports of drones being shot down.

Ukraine’s air defence demonstrated high effectiveness: out of the 154 drones launched, 125 were destroyed or suppressed. At the same time, some UAVs reached their targets — 22 impacts were recorded at 18 locations across the country.

In two cases, damage was caused by falling debris from downed drones, leading to local fires and damage to civilian infrastructure.

It should be recalled that Kyiv was attacked by drones and missiles from multiple directions, with air defence forces intercepting some of the targets.
