Russian singer Uspenskaya added to Ukraine’s national security threat list
The National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting has decided to include Russian performer originally from Kyiv, Lyubov Uspenskaya, in the list of persons who pose a threat to Ukraine’s national security.
This was reported by the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting.
The decision is based on the results of an official monitoring review, which documented numerous instances of Uspenskaya’s public support for Russia’s armed aggression and her participation in propaganda activities in favor of the aggressor state. The media regulator has already prepared an appeal to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine to update the relevant list.
In particular, in July 2024 Uspenskaya visited the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region, where she performed a concert for Russian military personnel. In comments to propaganda media, she stated that her goal was to “boost the morale” of Russian troops.
In January 2025, the singer joined an initiative launched by producer Igor Matvienko by donating funds for the restoration of facilities in Russia’s Kursk region. These actions were used by Russian propaganda as an example of “patriotic support.”
The National Council also recorded repeated illegal crossings of Ukraine’s state border during Uspenskaya’s trips to the temporarily occupied Crimea and the ORDLO territories.
The National Council reminded that Lyubov Uspenskaya is already subject to personal sanctions in accordance with a decree of the President of Ukraine dated January 7, 2023. The current decision was adopted on the basis of Article 126 of the Law of Ukraine “On Media.”
The regulator emphasized that individuals who publicly deny Ukraine’s sovereignty and support terror against the civilian population cannot be present in Ukraine’s information space.
