Roskomnadzor officially blocks Roblox platform in Russia
On December 3, Roskomnadzor announced the blocking of the gaming platform Roblox in Russia due to the distribution of extremist materials. This decision followed numerous allegations including corruption of children, concealment of pedophiles, and hidden gambling mechanics within the platform.
This was reported by Russian propaganda media
Previously, Roblox faced criticism for its potentially harmful influence on children and teenagers, as well as opaque gaming features that allegedly encourage gambling behaviour. This block is part of a broader Roskomnadzor strategy to regulate internet content deemed harmful or illegal.
In the near future, Russian users will be unable to access Roblox, while the prospects of lifting the block or changes to the platform's policies remain uncertain.
