Defense forces struck the remnants of the Russian Federation's Black Sea Fleet in Novorossiysk

On the night of August 12, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck Russian warships during an attack on a naval base in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation.

According to preliminary reports, four warships sustained damage of varying degrees:

  •   two Project 11356 frigates—the *Admiral Makarov* and the *Admiral Essen*;
  • a Project 21631 small missile ship, the “Buyan-M”;
  • a Project 22160 patrol ship, the “Vasyl Bykov.”

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces are consistently reducing the Russian Federation’s ability to continue its armed aggression. More to come!” the statement reads.

Information regarding the consequences of the strike is currently being verified, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added.

On August 12, Ukrainian drones struck a relay station for the Russian “Geran” strike drone control system in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. A number of other key Russian military targets in the occupied territories were also hit.

As of August 12, 2026, the Russian army had lost another 1,260 soldiers over the past 24 hours. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released this data in its morning report.

Over the past day, the occupiers lost 1,130 soldiers and more than 400 pieces of military equipment.

In the Kherson region, one person was killed and two were wounded as a result of Russian shelling.
