Seven regions of Ukraine were left without power following attacks by the Russian Federation

Due to hostilities and Russian shelling of energy infrastructure, on September 16, some consumers in seven regions of Ukraine were temporarily left without power. Consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions are without power.

It is noted that utility workers are working around the clock to restore power to all customers as quickly as possible, and restoration efforts are ongoing 24 hours a day.

Regarding the imposition of restrictions

The Ministry of Energy noted that no restrictions are expected on September 17. Please check the official websites of your regional power companies for any updates on power supply.

The ministry urged consumers to use electricity sparingly during peak consumption hours in the morning and evening. This helps reduce the load on the grid.

Power Without Outages

The summer of 2026 in Ukraine was marked by energy balancing: despite more optimistic forecasts, rolling blackouts were in effect on June 30 and July 1.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

As a reminder, power outages caused by shelling were recorded in six regions of Ukraine.

In the Mykolaiv region, a power line was damaged by falling debris following Russian strikes. As a result, 18 settlements were left without power.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, a private home was damaged as a result of Russian shelling. A 65-year-old woman was trapped under the rubble; rescuers freed her and handed her over to medical personnel.

Russian troops struck a passenger bus in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Five people were killed and seven others were wounded in the attack, according to Serhiy Hanzha, head of the regional military administration.

Over the past 24 hours, 278 combat engagements were recorded on the front lines. Russian troops carried out the most assaults in the Pokrovsk direction—Ukrainian defenders repelled 43 enemy attacks.

As of September 16, 2026, the Ukrainian military had eliminated 1,530 Russian occupiers over the past day. The Russian Federation’s total military losses have increased by another 1,530 soldiers.
