Syrsky at NATO: For the fifth month in a row, Russia has been losing more troops than it is mobilizing

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi took part in a meeting of the Ukraine–NATO Council at the military leadership level in Brussels. During his remarks, he stated that for the fifth consecutive month, Russia has been suffering losses that exceed the rate of its mobilization. The meeting took place at NATO headquarters and focused on the situation at the front and Ukraine’s need for defense support.

The Commander-in-Chief shared details on Telegram:

He briefed partners on the current operational situation at the front, the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and key priorities for strengthening our capabilities.

He emphasized that active defense tactics allow us to wear down the enemy, retake positions, and inflict maximum losses on the enemy. Every day, the Russian army loses at least a thousand soldiers killed and wounded. Since the beginning of 2026, the enemy’s total losses have already exceeded 141,500 personnel, of whom over 83,000 are irretrievable.

Our unmanned aerial vehicle units play a crucial role in this. For the fifth consecutive month, thanks solely to their efforts, Russia has been losing more personnel than it is able to mobilize.

Ukraine has also significantly increased the number of strikes deep behind enemy lines thanks to the rapid deployment of Middle Strike-type drones. We have also achieved some success in suppressing Russian air defenses at closer ranges, which allows us to strike logistics hubs, oil refineries, and facilities of the Russian defense-industrial complex with increasing effectiveness.

He separately thanked allies for their support of Ukraine and invited the NATO Military Committee to visit Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine highly value all mechanisms of cooperation with NATO and support the further deepening of practical interaction—from strategic planning to the exchange of combat experience. Our common task is to create the conditions for a just peace by strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
