The Ukr Armo Tech scandal: suspicions of corruption and ties to Russian structures
Amid the war with Russia, the Ukrainian company Ukr Armo Tech, known for supplying armored vehicles to the security forces, has come under investigation. The criminal proceedings were opened on April 14, 2025, under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for "obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine." Investigators accuse the company's officials of price gouging and fictitious financial transactions related to structures with Russian roots.

The ruling of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv confirms that the company imported 78 Toyota Land vehicles to Ukraine in April-May 2025 for a total of about $4.6 million, with most of the funds allegedly being withdrawn through controlled individual entrepreneurs. It turned out that the company's co-founders, concerned about financial manipulation, left the business, leaving a single owner associated with INKAS Vehicles, a company of Russian origin.
Ukr Armo Tech's vehicles, based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 pickup truck, were of poor quality, according to court records and journalistic investigations. Although none of the companies has been found guilty, the revelations reveal serious problems in contracting and vetting suppliers in a time of war, raising questions about the safety and reliability of Ukraine's defense procurement.
