Slavyansk-on-Kuban under drone attack: oil refinery may have been targeted
The night of 26 January was a tense one for residents of Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, where several explosions were reported. According to local residents, the blasts were accompanied by gunfire.
At around 01:30 Kyiv time, the SHOT channel recorded the sounds of explosions, which were later reported to be the result of an attack by unidentified drones.
The strikes were likely aimed at local infrastructure facilities, including an oil refinery. Videos have appeared on social media confirming the audio evidence of the incident.
No official comments from the local authorities have been released so far, and there is currently no information about the consequences of the attack. According to available reports, this is not the first time the settlement has been targeted by sabotage operations.
Ukraine is increasingly successfully carrying out aerial attacks on targets inside Russia, and given the gradual degradation of Russia’s air defence systems, the scale of damage inflicted is expected to continue growing.
