Tatneft has restricted fuel sales at gas stations across Russia

Tatneft has restricted fuel sales at gas stations across Russia

The Russian oil company Tatneft has imposed limits on the sale of gasoline and diesel fuel at its gas stations across the country. These restrictions are yet another sign of fuel supply problems in the Russian market.

According to operators, in some regions, a single customer is allowed to purchase no more than 20–30 liters of gasoline and 40–60 liters of diesel fuel. Specific limits vary by region, though other sources claim the restrictions have actually been extended to the entire territory of the Russian Federation and all gas stations.

There are also reports of issues with cashless payments. At many gas stations, bank cards, mobile apps, quick payment systems, and fuel cards are temporarily not working. Cash remains the primary method of payment.

In total, Tatneft operates 2,000 gas stations across five countries, 800 of which are located in Russia.

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, fuel problems could escalate into a much more serious crisis. Due to logistical difficulties on the peninsula, prices have already begun to rise, lines are forming, and residents are actively stocking up on essential goods.

The shortage of automotive fuel, which was previously observed in the temporarily occupied Crimea, has begun to spread to the southern regions of the Russian Federation. Residents of the Krasnodar Krai and the Rostov Oblast are reporting shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel.
