100,000 people left without water in Belgorod
On the morning of Monday, 9 February, an emergency power outage occurred at two water intake facilities in Belgorod.
The city administration reported the incident on its social media page on VKontakte.
As a result, water supply disruptions were recorded in the central and northern parts of the city, as well as in the residential districts Pivnichnyi-20, 20A, and 35.
Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov stated that around 100,000 residents were left without water. According to him, water supply has already been restored to approximately 15,000 people, while the remainder are expected to have service returned within a few hours.
The city administration reported that repair teams from the water utility are switching equipment to backup power supplied by generators. The estimated time for full restoration of water supply is 4–5 hours. The city has organised distribution points for drinking water, with addresses provided by local authorities and utility services.
Meanwhile, the Telegram channel Pepel reported electricity outages in several settlements near Belgorod. Residents of Dubove and Razumne, in particular, have complained of power loss. In some houses in Dubove, local residents say there is neither electricity nor hot or cold water.
Belgorod authorities have begun forcibly draining water from district heating networks in hundreds of apartment buildings and dozens of social facilities due to the inability to restore the operation of the CHP plant after strikes on the energy infrastructure.
Recall that Belgorod has previously been left without electricity and heating due to shelling. Residents have also complained about the lack of heating amid abnormally cold weather.
