Authorities begin searching for “provocateurs” among local residents in Belgorod region

Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has described the situation in the energy sector as “practically catastrophic” due to strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, a significant portion of the power grid has been damaged, and the scale of outages could affect the entire region, which is home to about 1.5 million people.

The official acknowledged that the region has never experienced problems of this magnitude before and warned residents about possible prolonged disruptions to electricity supply.

Against the backdrop of the energy crisis, Gladkov called on security agencies to conduct “monitoring” of the population in order to identify “provocateurs” and “internal enemies” who, he claimed, are trying to incite dissatisfaction with the authorities.

The governor stated that any attempts to create “social tension” among residents would be treated as a threat to regional security.

All collected information about alleged “destructive actions” will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for further administrative or criminal prosecution of those deemed responsible.

Gladkov also complained about “information attacks” from the Ukrainian side, which he believes accompany military strikes.

He emphasized that some residents of the region allegedly “deliberately assist the enemy” by spreading negative comments about the work of local authorities.

“Every difficult situation provokes aggression from our enemies, and among them, unfortunately, are also those who are right next to us,” the governor said.
