Buildings of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy were damaged in Kyiv following the Russian attack

On the night of May 23–24, historic and academic buildings at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy were damaged as a result of a massive Russian missile and drone attack.

This was reported by the university’s press service.

The university emphasizes that despite the destruction, the community continues its work and the educational process, but currently needs financial and expert assistance to address the consequences of the attack.

According to preliminary data, a number of key facilities on the academic campus were damaged, including
five academic buildings,
the NAUKMA research library,
the university museum,
and the cultural and arts center.

The administration notes that approximately 1.5 million UAH is needed for the initial restoration of infrastructure. These funds are planned to be allocated for window replacement, damage repair, and ensuring safe conditions for study and work.

In addition to financial support, the university is also calling for specialists and experts to assess the damage and prepare a plan for the restoration of the buildings.

As a reminder, in Kyiv, while clearing debris on the roof of the “Chernobyl” Museum, a large rocket fragment was discovered that had struck the building during the attack. Specialists are already working on site to identify the munition by its serial numbers. The investigation into the consequences of the strike is ongoing. 

On the night of May 24, 2026, Russian occupiers struck the territory of the “Ancient Kyiv” State Historical and Architectural Reserve during a massive combined attack on Kyiv. As a result of the shelling, architectural landmarks sustained serious damage, and the National Museum “Chernobyl” in Podil was almost completely destroyed.

As a result of the massive nighttime attack on Kyiv, all districts of the capital were affected, with the most severe damage recorded in the Lukyanivka district.
