Occupiers in Crimea hunt for “Spotters” after strikes by Ukraine’s Defence Forces

In temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian forces have launched “round-ups” in Simferopol following recent strikes by Ukraine’s Defence Forces, attempting to identify so-called “spotters,” partisan sources report.

This was announced on Telegram by the Atesh partisan movement.

“The rashists are in panic in Crimea after the latest strikes by Ukraine’s Defence Forces. On 20 January, the occupiers showed heightened activity in Simferopol, searching for ‘spotters’,” the statement said.

According to the report, total inspections were carried out by the military and police on ring roads around the city.

Large-scale movements of military equipment were also recorded, including columns of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya), while enemy helicopters were observed in the air.

“Their abnormal and panicked behaviour is most likely linked to the recent successful strikes by Ukraine’s Defence Forces on military facilities in Crimea,” the partisans added.

Earlier, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) found Russia guilty of violating the right to peaceful assembly in Crimea.

Previously, the European Court of Human Rights delivered unprecedented judgments in two cases concerning applications lodged by Ukraine against Russia.
