Police officer Yuriy Tarasenko was killed in Kupiansk while on duty

In the Kharkiv region, Yuriy Tarasenko, a law enforcement officer with the Special Purpose Police Regiment, was killed while repelling the Russian Federation’s armed aggression.

The tragedy occurred in the city of Kupiansk during a massive shelling of Ukrainian defenders’ positions.

According to the National Police Communications Department, on March 14, a group of police officers was moving between combat positions.

At that moment, Russian troops launched a massive attack, using artillery and FPV drones.

As a result of the enemy strike, contact was lost with Yuriy Tarasenko, a police officer from Platoon No. 2. It was only later that information about his death was confirmed, and on March 23, the law enforcement officer’s body was successfully evacuated from the scene.

Yuriy Tarasenko dedicated over thirteen years to service in law enforcement, beginning his career in December 2010. Colleagues remember him as a professional who remained faithful to his duty until his last breath.

The fallen defender will forever remain 37 years old. His death was a tremendous loss for his family: his wife and seven-year-old daughter were left without a husband and father, and his elderly parents were left without a son.

We recall that Roman Tkachuk, head of the Institute of Civil Society, was killed in the war.

Yaroslav Chernyshev, founder of North Side Group, also died on the front lines.
