Construction Workers in Mariupol Face Widespread Wage Delays

In Russian-occupied Mariupol, wages for workers involved in rebuilding war-damaged sites are being significantly delayed.

Volunteer Saniya Denisova shared complaints from affected construction workers.

Employees of the Mariupol branch of LLC PST have not been paid since December 2025. One worker said: “They keep promising every week: ‘It will be Friday,’ but nothing has been paid. We are all in debt.” Another added:
"They give no explanations and remain silent, yet promise weekly: ‘Soon, wait a little.’ We have no patience left. There’s nothing to live on, and many workers have loans."

LLC PST, registered in Saint Petersburg, has had its bank accounts blocked since March 11, 2026.

Similar complaints have been reported against Moscow-based Ostrob, which has delayed payments since October 2025, as well as SpecSnabTrans (Chechnya, bankrupt), Global Engineering Donbas, and MUP Mariupolzhitlokomplex. Workers say that despite their hard labor, they mostly receive empty promises, with few companies in the city paying salaries on time.

According to Rosstat, overdue wages in Russia in 2025 rose 2.3 times to 2.077 billion rubles. The absolute increase of 1.134 billion rubles broke the 2016 record, while the relative growth of 127% was unprecedented in 20 years of available statistics.

Earlier, 60 residents of a demolished nine-story building in Mariupol filed a cassation appeal to the Russian Supreme Court, seeking compensation for their lost apartments.
