On the night of September 10, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using 149 drones; air defense forces destroyed most of them
Russia launched a new airstrike against Ukraine on the evening of September 9. This time, the occupiers deployed 149 attack drones of various types.
The air attack began at 6:00 p.m. on September 9.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy used Shahed-type drones, “Gerbera” drones, and “Parody” decoy drones. About half of the Shahed drones launched were jet-powered.
Russian drones flew toward Ukraine from several areas. Specifically, they were launched from Millerovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk Oblast, and Gvardeyskoye in occupied Crimea.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were deployed to repel the attack.
As of 8:00 a.m. on September 10, Ukrainian air defense forces had destroyed or neutralized 128 enemy UAVs.
At the same time, the Air Force documented the consequences of the Russian attack:
- strike drones hitting 13 locations;
- debris from downed drones falling at nine locations.
The Air Force emphasized that Russia’s air assault is ongoing. As of this morning, enemy drones continued to be detected in Ukrainian airspace.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops carried out 989 strikes on 53 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. The occupiers carried out the vast majority of the attacks using drones—in 24 hours, the Russians launched 790 UAVs at the region.
On the evening of September 9, Russian troops attacked Khmelnytskyi. After debris from a downed drone fell on the grounds of a market, a fire broke out, and a secondary explosion occurred while rescue workers were on the scene. Four State Emergency Service employees were injured in the explosion.
A fire broke out at a market in Khmelnytskyi following yet another drone attack. Mayor Oleksandr Symchyshyn reported that information regarding possible casualties is currently being verified.
On the night of September 9–10, Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih with strike drones. The enemy attack caused fires and damage in the city’s Central-City and Saksagansk districts. As of 6:44 a.m., five casualties have been reported.
In Novy Urengoy, Russia, authorities reported that a gas condensate processing plant had been hit. Following this, the Ukrainian company Fire Point published a cryptic statement about drones that allegedly traveled over 3,300 km and struck the target.
