Power outages have occurred in five regions of Ukraine due to attacks by the Russian Federation
Due to Russian shelling, some consumers in five regions of Ukraine are temporarily without power. The situation is most severe in the Kherson region. At the same time, as of August 17, no power rationing schedules are expected to be implemented.
According to the Ministry of Energy, due to hostilities and shelling of energy facilities, some consumers in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions remain without electricity.
However, the situation is most critical in the Kherson region.
“The situation is most critical in the Kherson region. Due to damage to energy infrastructure caused by enemy attacks, the largest number of consumers there are without power,” the Ministry of Energy noted.
Energy workers are carrying out restoration work where the security situation allows and are trying to restore power to consumers as quickly as possible.
The Ministry of Energy reported that no power restrictions are expected on August 17.
At the same time, Ukrainians are urged to use electricity wisely, as consumption is rising.
“No power restrictions are expected today. Active electricity consumption today should be shifted to daytime hours—from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We ask consumers, if possible, to use electricity sparingly during the evening hours—from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.," the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption continued to rise on the morning of August 17.
As of 9:30 a.m., it was 6% higher than at the same time on the previous business day—Friday, August 14.
This is attributed to a noticeable rise in air temperature in most regions of Ukraine compared to the end of last week.
The day before, on August 16, the daily peak in consumption was recorded in the evening. It remained at roughly the same level as the peak recorded the previous Sunday, August 9.
Energy officials are urging Ukrainians to shift the use of high-power electrical appliances to daytime hours whenever possible and to conserve electricity in the evening.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and NPC “Ukrenergo.”
The Russian Federation, the aggressor state, attacked port infrastructure in the Odesa region overnight. In the Izmail district, a civilian vessel flying the Togolese flag was damaged as a result of the strike, and four people were injured, according to Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa region.
In Izium, Kharkiv Oblast, five people were injured as a result of a Russian airstrike. The enemy also damaged at least 15 residential buildings.
Since the evening of August 16, the Russian army has attacked four districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 20 times. Five people were wounded as a result of the enemy strikes.
In Kherson, power outages occurred as a result of yet another round of Russian shelling.
