An administrative building caught fire in Poltava following a nighttime attack

In Poltava, an administrative building caught fire overnight following Russian shelling; the fire quickly spread to the upper floors, but rescue workers were able to put it out. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

The night in Poltava was marked by the sounds of alarms and explosions, and shortly after the strike, it became known that a fire had broken out in one of the city’s administrative buildings, engulfing both the second and third floors at once, creating thick smoke and posing a serious threat to the building’s structure.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, rescue workers quickly arrived at the scene and began firefighting operations, successfully containing and completely extinguishing the fire before it could spread further. The agency noted: “The fire engulfed the second and third floors of the building. The fire has been extinguished,” while emphasizing that work on the final assessment of the damage is ongoing.

No information about possible casualties has been received so far, but experts are continuing to inspect the building and the surrounding area to determine the full extent of the damage caused by the nighttime shelling.
