In Russia, people are being lured into the war with job openings for warehouse security guards at Wildberries and Ozon

In Russia, people are being lured into the war with job openings for warehouse security guards at Wildberries and Ozon

Ads have begun appearing en masse on the Russian website “Avito” for alleged job openings as security guards at Wildberries and Ozon warehouses as part of mobile firefighting teams. According to “Versta,” approximately 2,000 such ads have been posted since August 17.

The job postings promise a one-time payment before mobilization begins and assure applicants that employees will guard the warehouses against drones and will not be caught up in assaults.

Recruiters explained to the publication’s journalists that they are seeking “healthy men with no criminal record” under the age of 40. In reality, applicants are being offered a one-year contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The enrollment procedure is similar to that for recruiting contract soldiers for the war: applicants must submit documents, after which they are sent to Tula for training. They are promised 3.1 million rubles for signing the contract.

Sources interviewed by “Versтка” describe these job postings as a covert method of recruiting for the war. The ads are disguised as ordinary job offers because “Avito” strictly moderates war-related posts.
