US President Trump urges Ukraine in Ireland to stop strikes on Russian refineries
US President Donald Trump, while in Doonbeg, Ireland, called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to Trump, such attacks are causing a shortage of diesel fuel in Russia.
As CBS News reports, Trump answered a journalist’s question about whether he had spoken with Zelenskyy after his recent conversation with Kremlin head Vladimir Putin. The US president said that Ukraine can strike other targets, but not diesel fuel.
Strikes on fuel infrastructure
Ukraine has recently carried out long-range strikes against the oil and gas industry of the aggressor state, Russia. Kyiv says that this industry finances and directly supports Russia’s war against Ukraine.
On the night of September 13, Russia and Ukraine continued drone attacks. According to local authorities in Tatarstan, in the aggressor state of Russia, two civilians were killed and another 14 people were injured as a result of a drone strike on Nizhnekamsk. In a statement, the authorities said that the drone crashed into a tree near a parked car.

Nizhnekamsk is home to a major complex of oil refining, petrochemical, rubber, and polymer enterprises. The city’s mayor, Radmir Belyaev, reported a fire at one of the enterprises without providing details.
Claims about an attack in Kuban
Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate stated that Ukrainian drones attacked a major oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located opposite Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russia. The agency claims that a key oil processing unit and a tank farm were hit, after which a large-scale fire broke out.
The authorities of Krasnodar Krai reported three injured people, damage to an oil pipeline, and a fire at the enterprise, but did not directly confirm the Ukrainian intelligence statement. The Russian Defense Ministry, for its part, stated that it had shot down 389 Ukrainian drones overnight, including over Tatarstan, other regions of Russia, and temporarily occupied Crimea.
Ukrainian authorities also reported Russian drone attacks on the Black Sea port of Odesa and a fire near a border crossing point with Poland. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow does not rule out the resumption in the autumn of negotiations involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States, including in October.
