Power outages caused by shelling were reported in six regions of Ukraine
On Wednesday, September 16, due to hostilities and Russian shelling of energy infrastructure, some consumers in six regions of Ukraine were temporarily left without power.
These regions include Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Cherkasy.
The Ministry of Energy noted that specialists are working around the clock to restore power to all consumers as quickly as possible.
According to the ministry, restoration work is ongoing around the clock.
Energy workers continue to work at damaged facilities to address the consequences of hostilities and shelling of energy infrastructure.
The Ministry of Energy reported that no power restrictions are expected on September 16.
At the same time, consumers are advised to monitor the latest information on the official websites of their regional power companies, as the situation in the power grid may change.
The ministry also urged consumers to use electricity sparingly during peak hours—in the morning and evening.
The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that this approach helps reduce the load on the power grid.
The summer of 2026 in Ukraine was marked by efforts to balance the power grid. Despite more optimistic forecasts, scheduled power outages were still in effect on June 30 and July 1.

In the Mykolaiv region, a power line was damaged by falling debris following Russian strikes. As a result, 18 settlements were left without power.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, a private home was damaged as a result of Russian shelling. A 65-year-old woman was trapped under the rubble; rescuers freed her and handed her over to medical personnel.
Russian troops struck a commuter bus in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Five people were killed and seven others were wounded in the attack, according to Serhiy Hanzha, head of the regional military administration.
Over the past 24 hours, 278 combat engagements were recorded along the front lines. Russian troops carried out the most assaults in the Pokrovsk direction—Ukrainian defenders repelled 43 enemy attacks.
As of September 16, 2026, the Ukrainian military had eliminated 1,530 Russian occupiers over the past 24 hours. The Russian Federation’s total military losses increased by another 1,530 soldiers.
Since the beginning of the day on September 15, there have been 219 combat engagements on the front lines. Russian troops carried out the most attacks in the Pokrovsk direction—there, Ukrainian forces repelled 38 assaults.
